How to Choose the Best Song for Your First Dance

wedding dance

Let’s face it, if you’re having a traditional [tag]reception[/tag] then you and your new mate will have to choose a first dance song that suits you both. Here are some tips for selecting that special song in addition to some sample songs to get you off to a good start.

  1. Think about your style when choosing your song. Will a slow song work best for both of you and your dance skills, or will a more up-tempo song loosen up you and your new spouse.
  2. Listen to the words of the song. It’s important to listen to the entire song and not just bits and pieces of it. Make sure that the words tell your guests a story and provides a lasting impression for you [tag]marriage[/tag].
  3. Take dance lessons if you need some extra help. This is your [tag]wedding[/tag], so it’s a good idea to be as prepared as possible for this dance. After all, it is your “First Dance” as a married couple.
  4. Whether you’re having a band or DJ, be sure that they know EXACTLY what your first dance song is. We wouldn’t want anyone to be caught off guard with something that you and your spouse didn’t choose.

Now that we’ve gotten those tips out of the way, here’s a list of sample songs from different styles of weddings that we have attended. Feel free to post and add some song that you’d recommend to our loyal readers!
